Short Story Of Red Chief's Ransom

To begin with, the stories of Red Chief’s Ransom and the short video both have similarities and differences of their own. One difference is, in the book the criminals Bill and Sam have a buggy, although in the film they have a mobile car. Second, is that Bill doesn’t have a brick thrown at him during the kidnapping like in the story. Also, to add, they didn’t offer him candy but instead threw Red Chief into a luggage box. Third, they never say Red Chief’s actual name in the movie but his real name is Johnny Dorset. One of the biggest differences would have to be that they aren’t in a cave but are placed in the middle of the woods unlike the short story. However, there are some similarities that they both share, such as, the ransom is signed

One of the most important, yet seemingly small differences, is the name given to the narrator in the movie, Charlotte. She never names herself throughout the written story. The choice not to name a main character of a story was very well thought out by Gilman. A no-named character gives the readers the ability to relate because they could just as easily be this person as to anyone else. The writers of the film not only chose to name the narrator, but they chose the name of the author of the original story.…
