One day King Playdectus of Iolcus was told by an oracle to beware a man wearing one sandal. King Playdectus was not worried about this because he killed his brother in law for the throne and the rest of his family died, or at least he thought so. He couldn't remember if his brother’s wife and child died because he was drunk at the time, but he dismissed the idea of relatives being alive, after all, he was the all powerful and almighty king. While the King was in his palace, Draco, the King’s nephew, was being taught by the humble centaur, Chiron. While he grew up, his mother became more frail as time passed on, and was barely hanging on to the thread of life the Fates were about to cut off. Along the way he lost a sandal from fighting a pack of wolves, but he didn’t mind because once he became king he could buy as many sandals as he wanted. When Draco finally arrived at the gate of the kingdom, he barged through the gates and demanded the guards to tell him where the King was right now. The guards asked who he was and Draco exclaimed that he was the new King. Everyone started gossiping about this new “King” and others rang their bell exclaiming that the new King arrived. King Playdectus looked through the window of his palace to see what this commotion was about. He heard some bits and pieces of what his people were talking about. He heard, “New King,” “our savior,” and “Hooray!” King Playdectus didn’t even have to hear the rest to know what was going on. He knew that this new “king” had to be his nephew, he forgot about all these years. King Playdectus had to think of a plan to get rid of his nephew. Then the idea came to his head. King Playdectus invited Draco over to dinner and asked him that if he was a king, what impossible task would he give to someone to show their worthiness. Draco replied almost immediately and said that the person should go on a quest to find and retrieve the Lost Treasures of Iacus. King Playdectus was very happy now and told Draco that he should go on a quest and do exactly what he said to prove his worthiness of becoming a king. Draco agreed immediately because …show more content…
