Short Story Of Kelvin Martinez's Life

New York City- Kelvin Martinez 27, wakes up in a rush desperately sorting through his spare change jar in hopes of finding enough money to pay for a train ride to work. However the money that he did find was just enough to get to work, he had no idea what he was going to do when he had to go back home. Besides being stressed over his financial situation he was also concerned about being able to maintain his job. Kelvin was on his final notice after habitually being late to work due to the unreliability of public transportation.
Martinez life came to a halt when he found out his mother was slowly and painfully dying of breast cancer. He was torn that his only present parent was going to cease from existence since his father had been absent for the majority of his life. For months he had been in and out of The Presbyterian hospital where his mother was receiving her chemotherapy. However as her disease progressed and she became weak he had found himself almost living in the hospital along side of his ill mother. Kelvin was unable to maintain his job since he had to take care of his mother and dedicate his time to her completely since she was unable to do anything and was extremely weak.
