Short Story Of American Parker

Improved Essays
Aiden Parker was a simple 17-year-old boy. He wasn’t special or even average. If anything, he was below average. He had a small, wimpy physique with short, frizzy, brown hair and brown eyes. As Aiden walks through the halls of his humongous school, those that surround him, his peers, don’t even acknowledge his existence. He easily blends in with the lockers, a technique he has spent years perfecting. Aiden is perfectly satisfied with his life. “One more year and then I’m off to college,” he says as he sits in the library doing homework during his seventh-period study hall. Before he knew it, the bell rang signaling the end of the school day.

After school, Aiden walks along the storefronts of some of the most popular stores to adolescents

“It was just a dream,” he says getting up and getting ready for school. An hour goes by and Aiden walks into his school. Immediately, his peers swarm him, clapping and congratulating him. “It’s Aiden Parker! The Hero,” they scream. All the girls fawn over him and all of the boys want to be him. Aiden stands there frozen in place. “It wasn’t a dream,” he says in complete shock. “I’m not a hero,” Aiden exclaims. “Oh, but you are,” says one student. “You took down a burglar and saved a hostage,” another student says. “But...but,” Aiden stutters. “I didn’t mean to do that.” The schools fall silent. “You can’t accidentally be a hero,” a student yells. “Yeah,” exclaims everyone else and the celebration begins …show more content…
“I can’t believe this happening,” he says. “What have I gotten myself into?” Before Aiden has the chance to comprehend everything that has happened in the last 16 hours, someone screams. Aiden runs outside of the library to find his school in chaos. The burglar that Aiden had stopped the day before had escaped from the police and was back for revenge. “We need a hero,” the students exclaimed. “Aiden! He will save us. He’s our hero!” Aiden watches as his peers and teachers run and scream in fear. The burglar faces Aiden. “Yeah, Aiden Parker. Be the hero again. Stop me,” he says. “But….but… I’m not a hero. I didn’t mean for any of this to happen. I stopped you by accident. All I have ever wanted was to stay in the shadows. Now, I’m the complete opposite.” Aiden exclaims and runs back into the library. Everyone stands there in absolute silence. A few minutes goes by with everyone, including the burglar, standing in shock, and the police bust into the school and apprehends the burglar. Once everything is settled, life continues to go on. The name Aiden Parker is lost in the wind for everyone is too ashamed of their actions of deifying him. Poor Aiden is left alone with no idea of what to make of his

Perhaps the single, most common answer to the question of the purpose of school is that it is to shape young minds in preparing them for the future. For some, school is where they go learn skills and techniques useful in the work world. For others, they are just forced to go to school, to be hassled with the burdens of overwhelming assignments, which deprive them of their ever so fulfilling social lives and other salient priorities. However, for the students in Crenshaw High School, school was a sanctuary, a safe haven; the only place where they felt accepted, worthy and optimistic. School was their only outlet where they could openly express themselves, especially in their English classes.…
