Short Story: Moving To Canada

John woke up in a car after a short nap with Helena, Tommy, and Laurel, they were planning to move to Canada. It was their group dream since they met each other in high school. Since college is over, they all decided to go live there to expand their careers and to have a fresh start. They packed all their belongings and all their money in a duffle bag. There was around sixty thousand dollars in the bag and some extra money in their bank accounts. John,Laurel, and Tommy said goodbye to their families but Helena had no one to say goodbye.They left for Canada to seek better jobs in the biotechnology field where Helena made tremendous advancement in biochemistry. They got tired driving a long time so they switch up because didn't want to get in an accident. They sang to their favorite beats on the way there and stop along some stop station to get gas and some chips and drinks . They were already in upstate New York driving through the evening enjoying the scenery . John was driving for an hour and a half and didn't get sleep like he was supposed to,everyone else was fast asleep. He started to doze off, then medium pitch rumble shook the car. John jump up and saw a truck wipe out the side of the bridge. He tried to stop, but his reaction time had consequently slowed because of his drowsiness. John was depressed after the funerals for Tommy and Laurel, and he watched Helena time to time when he wasn’t work. John always remember that day thinking of what he should of done differently. He thought their lives shouldn’t be in vain. So after months of debating, John decide to live off their dreams. But then he got a call from the hospital saying Helena awoke from the vegetative state. John drove over there and rush to her side, they talked and John explain his the whole five months sleep was under. After a month of therapy Helena went back to her normal life. John explain what he was think of continuing the dream of a career in biotechnology in Canada. Helena was hesitant but then was all for it after he explain fully. They left to go Canada, with no incident. Over a three years later they highest recognition award for making wound healing nanobots. They got a couple more awards over the years for other types of Nanos. Sadly if only John had helped his friend escape the car they would all be alive and awarded. John never miss a day learn from his mistake he know he would always life with that one
