Story evaluation The story that will be evaluated is one entitled “Man was paid $2 500 to conceive a child with his neighbor’s beauty queen wife, but failed after 3 months trying”. Firstly, there is doubt in the story due to the source which is responsible for sharing the news. The source is a website known as 9GAG, which does not have any reputable evaluation system, and anyone is free to post a story he or she wants. However, judging by the comments on the post, many individuals assume the story is real, whilst others believe it is a hoax. The nature of the article can easily deceive a reader as many individuals are anxious to see a bizarre scenario such as the one that is presented in the story. Furthermore, the picture of the alleged wife who was supposed to be impregnated is very beautiful. …show more content…
However, there is reason to question the extract as it does not show any important information such as the name of the author and the newspaper that is responsible for printing the story. There is also no name of the individual who wrote the story on the site. The subject of the case is "A rape on Campus", an article written by Sabrina Rubin Erdely in Rolling Stones magazine. Erdely is a writer, journalist and editor at Rolling Stones. The article lacked integrity and substantial evidence as the victim wasn't questioned. I'm writing about this case because it demonstrates how a journalist's writing can be falsified if not backed up with proof. Also, it's ironic that the story managed to slipped by the professionals, get published, and read almost three million times before being doubted.…

On March 25, 1931, nine African-American teenagers, including 19 year old Clarence Norris, were hoboing on a freight train from Chattanooga, Tennessee to look for work. The teenagers were taken off the train near Scottsboro, Alabama by local deputies and were accused of raping two white women Victoria Price and Ruby Bates. It is clear that Clarence Norris is not guilty of the rape of Victoria Price and Ruby Bates and he should be released. Obviously, Norris is guilty of hoboing but not rape or assault.…

Trust in the justice system revolves around the idea that courts uphold our laws, convict the guilty, and protect the innocent. When the people running the court, are more corrupt than the people being tried, what becomes of the court? This question comes to mind while viewing the documentary The Thin Blue Line. This film successfully argues that a man was wrongly convicted for killing a police officer by a corrupt justice system in Dallas County, Texas. It presents the evidence the police used, who were under extreme pressure to clear the case, in order to build on a point that the circumstantial evidence was very flimsy.…

Although I gained much knowledge over the past few months I did struggle with a few things such as formulating a written thesis statement expressing my main point in the composition, producing rough drafts preliminary to the final draft, applying transition strategies to organize the entire composition cohesively and coherently, and overall practicing various prewriting strategies, such as thinking, brainstorming, listing, and freewriting.…

After finishing the English 101 course I feel like I have accomplished many of the goals that I was challenged with the beginning of the course, such as critically thinking and reading with text from the textbook “Dialogues” by Gary Goshgarian, substantively replying to my peers to understand their point of views from the text and to get a better understanding of a rhetorical argument. Thinking and reading critically were very important this whole course. Thinking and reading critically were something you would have to do in every assignment that was given. Incorporating it in every assignment has helped us greatly improve week by week and betters our understanding of each topic and the assignments main idea.…

Salem witch trials, to some, is a mystery, enigma, or confusing, but there is a possible answer to this situation: Jealousy. 20 people in Salem, Massachusetts were hanged in 1692, because of being accused of witchcraft. Some people say that religion cause it. Others say that it was because of them trying to explain the unexplainable. Here’s why I think jealousy would beat out religion and explaining the unexplainable is explaining the cause of this whole ‘which ‘witch’ is a witch’ hysteria.…

Everyone hates English class is what I thought before taking English 102. However, that may have been the case before I entered Dr. Byrd’s domain, but after finishing the class I have come to the realization that English class can be greatly resourceful. English 102 this year has had its ups and downs, and I must admit the ups outweigh the downs. Meaning, this year, I have learned that I am not a student who wants to read or write, but through reading and writing my mind and skill sets concerning English have grown. During English 102 this year, reading and writing in class helped me expand my writing skills, improved my will to comprehend, and most importantly helped expand my knowledge.…

However, as I walk away from my English 102 class I carry the understanding of writing a college level essay, undertaking research and completing a research and argument paper properly, and knowledge to prepare me for my other classes and profession.…

I can reflect back on being in your 10th Grade English Class listening to you prepare my class and I for this very time in our lives. We are studying and will be exploring four objectives in my EN 213 Course here at Alcorn State University and I am almost certain that I am well prepared for them. For each objective, I have my own perspective on what I think each one means and this is what will help me understand them even better. For example, our first objective is to read and appreciate literary texts. This objective is very much self-explanatory because we will be doing just what it says “read and appreciate” which means we will be reading a text and comprehending or understanding it to the extent where we can tell our instructor what happened in the text, why it happened, and what we think would have happened next.…
