Most of my peers do not read for pleasure. Rarely will you see a highschool student with a book in their hand that was not assigned to them. Well, there’s no need to fear, Abbie is here with the perfect solution: a short story. One short story in particular that I recommend is “ Eleven” by Sandra Cisneros. It is a brief piece of literature that tells the story of the a girl on her eleventh birthday. Rachel is the main character and the story takes place on her eleventh birthday (hence the title). She starts her narrative off with a reflection on age and how it changes you. She describes how person can act different ages on different days because “ the way you grow old is kind of like an onion or like the rings inside a tree trunk…”, it sticks
