Short Story: Crossing The Sand Pit On The Monkey Bar

“You can do it, Jack!” Sam said loudly.
But Jack fell into the sand pit again. He couldn’t do it and honestly didn’t think he would ever be able to do it. Crossing the sand pit on the monkey bars was just too hard for him.
Jack had been trying to make it across the sand pit on the monkey bars since first grade. Back then he couldn’t even reach the bars. By second grade he could reach them but couldn’t hold on. In third and fourth grade he mostly just hung on the first bar without going anywhere.
“Wipe yourself off and try again, Jack!” Sam said.
Jack didn’t think it was possible. He realized he had gotten a little better each year but it still seemed too hard. The idea of swinging from one bar to the next all the way across the sand
