Dress Codes: A Narrative Fiction

Superior Essays
Three slices of pizza, two bottle of wine and a chic flick later we are on to the gossip portion of the evening.
Abby is busy going on about this new receptionist at Dave’s office and how she is always dressing in short, short skirts and tiny tops and how no one seems to care.
“Hello, dress codes are there for a reason people, they need to be enforced.”
“Yeah I hear ya.” I agree
“So did Flynn tell you about the girl he has been seeing?”
She just had to wait until I was taking a sip of wine to drop that bomb. I spray my wine all over the coffee table when I hear the news.
“huh? No, he didn’t”
“I guess he has only seen her a few times, her name is Keriann.” She tells me
“So he told you about her?” I ask trying to keep my cool
“No actually

“No, I didn’t mean ugly. I.. um .. no I wasn’t listening.” I confess
“Are you jealous?” Abby asks with a smile
How do I answer that? My heart his beating like a drum, my arm pits are starting to sweat, my palms are getting clammy. So all signs point to yes, however I have absolutely no reason to be jealous.
“No, why would I be Jealous?” I ask
“I don’t know, you tell me.”
“No, I think I’m surprised he hadn’t said anything to me, I talked to him yesterday and we texted this morning.” I tell her
“Uh huh, that must be it.”
I quickly change the subject; my brain however did not get the memo. I can’t stop thinking about Flynn. I know I convinced myself that the feelings I had after the ski hill were fake I’m starting to wondering again if that is true. Even if the feelings are true it is obvious now that what I thought I saw in his eyes that day wasn’t actually there.
“So how was the physic, you never told me.” Casey asks bringing my thoughts back
“Oh you know, the same old crap you hear about from anyone who has a reading.” I tell her
“So what did she say.” She asks again
“That I would love again soon but my path to love is unclear or some crap.” I tell

ME: Sounds good... Carpe Diem?
FLYNN: You got it!

Ah Flynn, still carrying out Jack’s plan after all these months. Not that I thought he would give up or lose interest, I thought maybe he would get it started and pass it off to Casey or Abby once things got underway. I love that he has taken such care in making sure each adventure is cared for and planned out as Jack would have wanted. Even after all these months I still find it hard to think of all the years Jack put in to planning this. All those years of him planning and saving and bragging to Flynn, then he is taken before he can see the look on my face when his plan is reviled.
Deep down I have always known that Flynn was a good friend to Jack, they have been through so much together. I love Flynn for being such a great friend, to Jack and now to me.
My thoughts have run away with me again and before I know it it’s time to get ready for dinner. I shower and pick out a nice spring dress to wear. I am not normally a dress person, however the spring air is begging for a dress tonight.
An hour later I am walking out the door. The warm air caresses my skin and I can’t help but smile. I have no idea what tonight will bring, but I can’t

11:00 am I wake up to a perfectly clean room with a perfect breakfast: sausage, pancakes, bacon, and cinnamon rolls all sitting right next to my bed. I eat my breakfast and get ready for the day. I go downstairs to see my friends Austen, Zach, and Elias down there holding four tickets to the Super Bowl game tonight and a jet sitting outside in the field. I had slept in a little past what we had planned on leaving by but it didn’t matter too much we still had plenty of time to do what we wanted to.…

I lift my hips in encouragement and feel his every stroke land in the deepest part of my belly. He shifts forward, because he knows my body also, and swirls his hips, eliciting a long, low moan from me. He releases my hands to capture my breasts, pausing the ramming of his hips against mine to suck on them hard, pinching the skin and biting the tender swells. When he showers my shoulders and neck with kisses and love bites, I grasp and pull him into me. "Ugh, Jim, make me…"…

It’s daunting how one seemingly meaningless task ignited a series of events that paved a route directing me to adulthood. It took time to realize the ways my traveling had molded me; these differences, slowly but surely, appeared in the way I thought about and questioned the world. My journey began in 2014 as I read The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime. Unbeknownst to me, this book was equipping me with the knowledge to uncover a family secret.…

The Barn The sun is just starting to peek over the horizon, casting soft rays of light over the Earth and turning this usually chaos filled place, into a calm haven. Here I can clear my mind and enjoy simply being and breathing. This is an opportunity never able to be seized once the afternoon rush of people start trickling in. There is not a cloud in the sky and a cool breeze rustles the leaves of the trees. I make my way towards the barn to see my horse before I head off to school.…

It began as a day like any other. It was a beautiful Saturday; I had spent the entire day cleaning and preparing the yard for visitors. Today was the day that the universally renowned Ixchel was to accompany my friends and I for dinner. I had spent the remainder of my day that wasn’t consumed by either cleaning or yard work preparing a fantastic meal. I served a pork tenderloin covered in a dijon apple glaze, I still remember seeing the steam escaping from the meat and the expressions of ecstasy as my guests ate like it were their last meal, little did we know.…

It was Friday, January 8th, 2016, the day that started a new beginning (at least in my mind). It started like any other day with me sleeping soundly in my memory-foam bed. I remember I was in the middle of a dream where I was back in my high school AP (advance placement) United States History class being taught by Coach Hunter. I was with my old friends sitting towards the back of the class joking around and having a good time and then out of nowhere a sudden jolt awoke me from my slumber. It was my mother who had woken me up at 5:45 that morning so that I could get ready for the day ahead.…
