I chose this because it shows how Cole’s character has character has really changed over time. Because in the beginning cole was the type of person to say that everyone should fear him. And if they didn't then they would make them fear him. Also, when Edwin was leaving the island. Also, he wanted Peter to realize that he isn’t such a bad person anymore. He is now a civil human being. My first example is that, Cole gave Peter a Snickers because he was just sitting outside in the cole and hadn't eaten. Also, Cole was trying to show Peter he isn’t out to hurt him anymore. Infact, Cole’s intention was never to hurt Peter. He wasn't planning out what he is going to do to Peter. It was a spur of the moment kind of thing. Secondly, when peter started whaling on Cole, Cole didn't fight back. In all reality, Cole refused to fight back. He said he wasn't going to hit Peter again because that would contradict everything Cole has worked so hard to change about himself. Lastly, Cole slept in a tent so that Peter wasn't afraid to go to sleep at night. Cole didn't want peter to fear him anymore. So he would do anything he possibly could to make it so that Peter was comfortable with him
