Personal Narrative: The Rules That Changed My Life

Improved Essays
I always thought that all the advices and rules that my parents taught me was just to keep me disciplined, however I was wrong. Their rules were to make my life safer, which I couldn’t understand until I got in a car crash, because I didn’t listen to their advices about texting and driving.
It all started on June 16th, 2015 afternoon, when I was coming back from a wedding of my cousin. I spent amazing time on it and enjoyed watching of my favorite cousins, Clara, getting married. At that time all the advices my parents or teachers were giving to me were flowing in one hear and flowing out of other. So, whenever my parents were advising me about not using my phone on while driving I simply didn’t listen to them. No one else out of my cousins

I blacked out for just a second. I wake up, realizing that air bags worked fine, saving my head from hitting a steering wheel. I hear something ringing in my ears and smell that something burnt. I started to check if all of my bones and joints are fine. Moving all of them, I figured that I am totally fine, except that my finger hurts a little bit. Second thing that I did was to disconnect seatbelt. It apparently wasn’t that easy, because my fingers were still shaking. After a finally successful disconnection of seatbelt I got out of a car and ran toward the hit car. I wasn’t worried about my car or their car, because cars are just a property, while putting in danger life of other people was always something that worried me a lot. I jogged to their car. Thankfully they were fine, and barely affected by a hit of my small car into their Jeep. The next thing I decided to check was our cars. I was horrified with the next thing I saw. Half of my engine was smashed into their high lifted car. While their car got some scratches, I got all the liquid from the engine to spill off and my car becoming completely incapable of driving anymore. My insurance covered their car, however it was merely nothing comparing to my car. When I was buying my car I spent five thousand dollars on that car. So, after I found how much it would cost me to replace engine and fix my car, I just decided to leave my car to tow company. It took me nearly half an hour to get everything out of my trunk, all my uniforms from my job, my soccer ball, my backpacks which I still had in my trunk for unknown reasons. Thankfully, my attitude of being sorry and worrying about the people I hit, the lady decided not to report it to police. Which made it me safe another couple of thousands of dollars. However the insurance did not forgive it to me that easily, increasing paying for insurance to four hundred dollars per

This means that your insurance company must cover your medical expense and lost income even when the other person is at fault. The only way the other driver may have to pay for the costs is if there is a serious injury. To meet this requirement, you would have to have significant scarring, permanent injuries or disfigurements. Since these descriptions are fairly vague, the courts would have to figure out if your injuries fit the “serious injury” threshold.…

It’s very strange how one experience or choice you make in your life can change the rest of your life that follows that event, would you then in turn change these decisions you made. Such as your what if your mom conceived you not on the knowing basis. What if everyone was telling her not to because she was to be a single mom and that’s not a world a child should be born into, but then what if she challenged this belief that she grew up with. This then in turn affected all her choices later in life, but then vice versa what if she didn't challenge this belief and stuck with what she knew. This may be of the more extreme choices in life that some people must make but we all have that certain time in our life that comes where we must break away and make…

Camille Tran Mr. Wilton Honors English 1 9/28/17 Monitoring vs. Freedom When I was a little kid I would always find myself stuck in the car having to listen to my parent’s long boring lectures about not crossing the street without an adult or wearing a helmet when riding my bike, and of course, the general talk about not talking to strangers. As I got older, I realized that these teachable moments, as trivial as some are, were a part of life’s skill-set or tools that my parents wanted to instill in me. Looking back, I believe the ultimate goal was to teach me to become more aware of my surroundings and to trust my instincts in certain situations. Nowadays, when cyberbullying, online child predators, and identity theft are more serious…
