The meaning behind this saying is that your home will always be the place for which you feel the deepest affection, no matter where you are. Another is that people long to be at home, your home is whatever place you long to be. Also it’s something you say which means that your true home is with the person or in a place that you love the most. Yet when this is being said, is it a love for someone, like a significant other, or is it a love that is connected to the family there? Now this feeling can be anywhere. It is that feeling that when you get somewhere, you feel like you have arrived. It does not necessarily have to be your home, where your family is. It may feel most at home at a friend’s house, or you may feel most at home hidden away in the library. Where ever it is that you feel most content, this is where your heart is. My aunt moved from Minnesota to South Carolina to go with her boyfriend because he got a really good job offer down there, but when she left there was a note on the fridge that says, “no matter where she went home was where the heart is.” In that case did she simply mean that wherever he was she was going to be at home or did it mean that no matter where she went and what her zip code was Minnesota will always be her home? I try to align something from Florence like the bittersweet smell of coffee, the egg glazed pastries and the warm smell of fresh bread to my place at home.…

In the essay “Why Place Matters” Wilfred McClay and Ted McAllister argue that the loss of one's connection to a physical place results in the loss of individuality and one's public virtues. They fear that the importance of “place” seems to be fading and is now currently being replaced with a world that is deemed ‘placeless’ and thrives only on technology. They claim that place is an essential part for one to have a set of memories that build up a self identity. This self identity allows for a sense of responsibility that one has for their own community. They believe one cannot be apart of society without being a part of a place within that society.…

To me, home is theatre. Those who know me well will attest that the change in me throughout this experience is drastic. Theatre transports me to places I couldn’t dream of otherwise and two years ago, I was taken to a place that would change my life forever and theatre transformed to the place I call home. Thoughts and ideas flooded my mind as I stepped into the off-green colored cafeteria.…
