“I know I can do this. I have to get this done. This is not done right, so I am going to do it myself.” These are all the things that go through my mind to keep me motivated. I am the type of person who likes things to be perfect, and I do not stop until they are. Throughout my high school career, I have grown in both mental toughness and perseverance. I have shown grit through my friend group, track and field, and in the classroom. Friends are there for us when life gets hard, but sometimes life gets too busy and spending time with friends gets cut short. High school is an incredibly busy time. I have shown this though track and field. During my freshman year, I tried out for the track and field team and made varsity shot put. My sophomore year I realized that I could be great at this sport, and that is when I started to put in the work to become really good at this sport. Routinely I was the first person at practice and the last person to leave. I was motivated to be the best at shot put. Then my junior year, I advanced to the regional meet, but fell short of my goal of making it to the state tournament.
