St. Agnes
“Christ made my soul beautiful with the jewels of grace and virtue. I belong to Him whom the angels serve.”- St. Agnes

In Latin Agnes means lamb (agnum) which sounds like her name. The symbol of the lamb is youth and innocence. This is symbolized for her because she died at a very young age.
Purity,Innocence, and Faith are three words that greatly describe St.Agnes. She lived from 291 to 304 AD and was martyred during the rule of Diocletian at the age of twelve or thirteen. St.Agnes was born and raised in a wealthy Christian family, and because of this had many high ranking and/or noble suitors. Many of these suitors asked for her hand in marriage because of her exquisite beauty; but she rebuked them saying, “Jesus Christ is my only spouse.” She made a promise to God never to stain her purity and virginity. Agnes’ love for God was so devout and great, she hated sin more than death itself. Many of Agnes’ suitors reported her to the Roman authorities, accusing her of being a Christian, which in turn brought about her death/martyrdom. There are different versions/legends of her death and each of them vividly shows her devotion towards God. The greater the number of suitors she rebuked and refused the more she was reported and hated. In one instance the prefect Sempronius condemned her to be dragged naked in the streets to a brothel. In this particular situation there are different ways in which she allegedly escaped. In one example she prayed to God and then her hair grew to cover her

St Agnes was tortured for being a Christian in her time, it was against the law to follow Christianity. Although in Australia I can not go through what St Agnes did for being a Christian, many people around the world are still tortured, placed in jail and even murdered for simply being a Christian. A way that I can help is by writing a letter to the united nations raising awareness of the lack of freedom of religion around the world. I would ask them to work hard in the 6 countries that the American government marked as “countries of particular concern” for religious freedom violations. These countries include Iran, Burma, China, Eritrea, Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan.…

After Saint Faustina had gotten canonized on Divine Mercy Sunday, Divine Mercy had become increasingly popular. She helped spread Divine Mercy to everyone because of the miracles she has done. Another interesting fact is that Jesus told her to paint the vision she had of him and that the painting of him would be used to spread the devotion of His Sacred Heart. She was asked to be a model of how to be merciful to others, the apostle and secretary of God’s mercy and a help to maintain God’s plan of mercy to the world. An interesting fact about Saint Faustina is that she wasn't and open person, she expressed her feelings and her suffering in her diary, she never spoke to anyone about it.…

Perpetua’s tale of martyrdom for Christianity, while seemingly heroic, is no more than the death of a woman embellished for the sake of Christianity and women’s roles as martyrs in the third century. There is reason to believe that Perpetua’s story was falsified and embellished, most likely by a man, to be used as a tool for Christianity and recruit more women followers and martyrs and have them look up to Perpetua as an example of a noble woman and martyr. There are very few stories in history of women martyrs that have not been changed and embellished for the sake of Christianity, and this text is no different. I will prove that this text was edited at a later date. I will do this by showing there are plot holes from her time in prison,…
