Life Story: B.W. is an eighty-six year old female that has been living at the Arbor since June 10th, 2014. She likes her room to be dark and quiet, that is how she feels happy, and this was the experience I got from my visits with her. The first day I asked if I could turn the light on and she said yes, but immediately wanted it turned back off. She has two children and numerous grandchildren. She grew up in Overton, Texas. She has lived in Tyler, Texas and Pasadena Texas. She goes by the nicknames of Aunt Lola and Pudding. She has two sisters. With that said we did a level four activity with a group of residents. There was no possible way a couple of our residents were going to participate. After speaking with Terrie, I now feel bad that I did not plan an activity with my resident. From her life story I learned that she does like music and she does watch TV on the weekends. Now that I have a better understanding of the concept of the BATF I would do things differently. If I could have a do over I would plan an activity based on her life story, ACLS and CATG scores that would be meaningful to her. I had the information I needed to come up with an activity based on the books Terrie shared with our class and I was thinking more about the higher functioning residents. For me the take away message is, if you don’t understand contact your instructor to be clear on what is expected regarding the BATF. If I had the information then that I have now things would have been different. I know that I can’t expect residents like B.W. to enter my world, I have to enter their
