Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis left an everlasting legacy on not only the White House but women, the 60s era, a presidential widow widely known for her fashion symbol and elegance.

Jacqueline Bouvier was born in South Hampton New York July 28, 1929. Her parents divorce at the age of 10. Early age Jacqueline Kennedy wrote pomes and essays, which were sometimes published in her school newspaper. The first lady heard a sound she thought to be a motorcycle backfiring she did not realize it was a gunshot until she heard Gov. Connally scream. With in 8.4 seconds two more shots had came she leaned toward her husband another bullet struck the president in the head. Almost immediately she reached out across the trunk of the car it looked as if she was reaching for pieces of the presidents skull and brains.The car rushed to Dallas Park land hospital and on arrival there to president was rushed into trauma room. The first lady for moment remained in a room for relatives and friends of patients inside. Vice Pres. Lincoln B. Johnson and his wife followed in another car in the motorcade. She attempted to enter the operating room nurse Doris Nelson stopped her attempted to bar the door, to prevent her from coming in. Jacqueline said "I want to be there when he dies" fusing to take a sedative by the president's doctor. After the president's death she refused to remove her blood stained clothing and regretted having wash the blood off her face and hands. She told Lady Bird Johnson "I want them to see what they have done to Jack." The day of the assassination she was wearing a Chanel pink suit and pillbox hat, which was covered in John's blood. She stood next to Johnson when he took the oath of office as president. She planned the president's State funeral, which was watched by millions around the world who shared her grief and admired her courage and dignity.
