Action Plan
(Start) From January through September, I am very busy with baseball and softball because I am the head coach for both my son and daughter 's team. When you add this to an already busy family schedule and work as a full time student, free time is not something readily available. There have been several instances when I have been working with schedules for both teams and I send conflicting messages to the parents. The initial time spent sending communications is doubled, and often tripled, by responding to confused parents and sending out another group communication.

Initially we had only planned on ten, but with the addition of twins, we had to push our long term goal of buying a bigger house back to 15 years. We have taken really good care of our home and made several upgrades, but children can be hard on walls, paint and woodwork. Towards the end of summer or the beginning of fall 2016, I plan to start freshening up the house but repainting all of the walls and woodwork. We will also need to replace carpet on the stairs and upper level as it is not only outdated but also worn. My completion date for all of this work is March of 2017 so we can put the house on the market and take the next step in home …show more content…
As previously mentioned, I am tied to this position until July of 2016. If I were to take a position with another company, that restriction would obviously be lifted. Because Farmers is paying for most of my college courses, I want to stay in place and utilize the college reimbursement fund to the maximum. Staying with Farmers until July of 2016 will allow me to meet that requirement and open my options for other positions in the company or with another organization. My long term professional goal is a little vague and not as focused as my other goals, but I hope to be in a management position with either Farmers or other company within two years. My goal for making this happen is continued network marketing, working with recruiters internally and externally and keeping my eyes open for what is available in the job market. Completion of my degree, having a very strong resume and cover letter are also important details for this

Upon reading DiAngelo & Sensoy there were five main points of concern addressed within the article. These topics had concern on the basis that the students coming into this course may more or less be unprepared and unwilling to open their minds up to this new material. The first main point was about aiming for intellectual humility. The authors claimed that this meant the students are apprehensive about learning new material and challenging their current and developed beliefs. This main point makes a reference to an astronomy student conflicting with his teacher on the existence of Pluto.…

In the paper it was emphasized that the author needs to include their own experiences into the mix as well. From the three excerpts from essays that were included this fact was shown even more so than had they just told someone. It made me think that I needed to add more from my time in the meeting at the church into the essay than I originally had. Not only that but also that I need to give justice to the people I studied by giving them a voice in my writing as well. Hopefully because of “Thickening Your Draft” I will have the ability to adequately give voice to the people involved in my…

I have long been fascinated by the way politics and economics influence individuals and how decisions made by political leaders can change the course of history. I am intrigued by the historical development of political and economic thought, as evidenced when studying the history of China. Milton Friedman’s Capitalism and Freedom provided me perspective on the connectivity of economic and political freedoms needed to strengthen democratic institutions. I also enjoyed Thomas Piketty’s Capital in the Twenty-First Century for his outlook on global inequality. His argument that rapid economic growth diminishes the importance of wealth was engaging and provided concrete historical data to back concepts such as the Kuznets curve, Gini coefficient and Lorenz curve from macroeconomics.…

    • Work in your chosen career • Work for and with people with whom you get along • Keep learning; participate in continuing education at your work or, if not offered there, on your own, but in your career field. Before you leave that job, figure out what you are going to do with the rest of your life. Make it something you really want to do, what you are passionate about; turn a hobby into your next job/career; work part-time or use a flex-time schedule; volunteer, etc. Above all, know yourself. (Sedlar & Miners, 2007) Some people volunteer with an expectation of really helping others, but sometimes that turns into being asked to do mundane tasks instead, so instead of being encouraged and feeling valued, they are hard to keep because they have been ‘tossed’ by the wayside.…

Throughout this semester of English 101, writing has become more of a skill than a struggle. Writing was a challenge that I dreaded when I chose to be in the course, nonetheless with time, I learned from my mistakes and was able to improve. In the end, I can reflect that I learned from my mistakes and wrote papers that took time and dedication to accomplish. My leadership philosophy is one that is rooted in the strong belief that it must be a continuous quest to motivate all students to become critical thinkers, effective communicators, and lifelong learners, while possessing outstanding character. This includes assisting students with discovering their talents and interests, therefore developing a love of learning, while developing into ethical, productive citizens. Accomplishing this requires a leader who is knowledgeable in pedagogy and curriculum, including the use of data and current assessments to enhance instruction, and who possesses outstanding communication skills, the ability to manage an operation’s resources effectively, promotes collaboration and teamwork, and is passionate and committed to helping students learn. I believe that my interpersonal skills will be my biggest strength as an educational leader. Through frequent, honest communication, and my enthusiasm for the subject, I will demonstrate understanding and compassion for those around me, therefore building trusting relationships.…

Lesson planning is a highly important part of teaching. Lesson plans are a teacher’s guide in his or her class room. They outline the learning goals and objectives for a particular lesson or chapter; they may also include the activity the teacher has planned and the supplies they will need to help the students complete that assignment. During my field placement I have yet to see my cooperating teacher plan out her lessons for the week, but it is clear she has a lesson plan. She usually has a lecture planned out for each day and she uses the textbook to outline the students learning objectives.…
