Multitalented, award winning, television producer, screen writer, and author, Shonda Rhimes is the epitome of persistence and the product of very humbled beginnings. She is best recognized through her many television dramas such as Grey’s Anatomy, spin-off Private Practice, How to Get Away with Murder, and political series Scandal. Chicago, Illinois native, Shonda Rhimes is the daughter of Vera P. (Cain) and Ilee Rhimes who she seems to have gained much knowledge by being raised under a college administrator and a professor. Her mother also earned a PhD while raising six children with Shonda being the youngest. Now we most definitely understand why is so driven and uses her platform to inspire others. Leadership is in her blood.
As an extension, Rhimes also has three daughters of her own. Two of which are adopted and the third produced via gestational surrogacy.

In addition, she possesses awards from the NAACP, Producers Guild of America, and the Writers Guild of America just to name a few. In closing, the history and breakout career of Shonda Rhimes is far from a fairytale story, but more of an example of what perseverance and how the execution of your goals will allow your career to soar in ways beyond your wildest dreams. I have personally been moved by her artistry and strive to someday be as prominent as Ms. Shonda
