The Miniature Schnauzer is the 17th most popular dog breed out of 192 dog breeds according to the AKC’s website. In the first place the Miniature Schnauzer was recognized by the AKC in 1926. The Schnauzer was recognized by the AKC, became popular very quickly ,and they were used to help with basic farm duties as well as protect the family. As the Miniature Schnauzer became recognized for their farm work they became way more popular than their slightly larger family member the Standard Schnauzer because they took up less space and they were not as expensive to care for. “He was used as well in herding sheep, cattle, and hogs, and in fact, doing all the duties of the regulation farm dog.
