As I approached the building, I could sense a dark presence. From what, I have no clue. I stared at the large building. It was huge and seemed pretty intact. I don’t remember how I got here, though. I looked down at my hands and screamed. They were cuffed and the skin was burned very badly. What the hell has happened? A woman’s voice filled my head. Literally, all I could hear was her voice. She sounded happy. I tried to pull from my restraints but failed to do so. “Welcome! You’re Soren Reynolds, correct? This is the care unit. You will be cared for with clean air, food, a bed, and education.

I relaxed at his touch. Jackson is 22 while I am 18. We are somewhat dating. Co-workers shouldn’t date. I get that. It’s just, he is my anchor to reality. He is cute. He is tall and broad-shouldered, with a mop of dark hair and heavy, solemn brows that were offset by a boyish grin. A pair of eyes the color of sea glass gleamed behind square-framed glasses that kept slipping down his long nose. I loved everything about him. “Jackson, I’m really tired. Can I sleep at your place tonight?” I asked. “Of course, I still need to fill you in on what’s happening, though, oh and where were you the last week?” he asked. I could sense the worry in his voice. “Oh, I was ill and sleeping a lot. I might still be sick. You know, I should probably head home. I’ll call you tonight, okay?” “Okay, you better. Take care and get some rest. I love you, Soren,” he said, kissing my forehead and leaving me in the middle of the ocean of people. “Welcome home, Soren, how was your outing today?” Lily asked as I walked into my home. “It was fine, Look, I want you to lock the doors. Only unlock them if it is me or Jackson Reeves. Please, Lilly. It is all that I am going to ask you for now,” I pleaded with the
