She became the first Iranian female judge in 1969. She used her position to improve women’s rights in Iran. And even after her resignation ,she wrote many articles and books about the injustices in Iran and what people can do to help. ("Shirin Ebadi - Biographical.") “Young Students Imprisoned. They are being tortured. That is what drives me. That is what compelled me to carry on with this fight”. ( Ebadi) Years later she finally obtained her law licence after years of fighting for it. She is deeply supported by UNICEF and has published many papers through them. She founded the Association for Support of Children's Rights, which works to protect and uphold the civil rights of children. Shirin Ebadi also founded the Human Rights Defense Center, which fights for civil rights of every minority. After years of hard work, Shirin Ebadi was awarded with the Nobel Peace Prize in 2003 for her work fighting for civil rights. She was living in a country where people were being killed for doing exactly what she was doing. Many eventually gave up.
