Shinn: A Short Story

Improved Essays
His name is Shinn. At least, that's what he chooses to believe in these intense minutes you and he share mind and space. From very early on, Shinn was taught to be kind and be very quiet. His early years of school taught him to never speak out of turn and no never yell. This was odd to Shinn seeing as he is now in High School and his teachers are practicaly begging for class participation. But we digress. It seems our story doesn't even have a beggining. Not a true on, at least. We'll add one. Please. Join him. You've much to discuss. Now we could easily tell you that Shinn's childhood was plesent and he did nothing but frollic and get smothered by his loving parents, but why would we? Why would we possivbly have a reason to lie to you?

“A Story” by Li-Young Lee is about the complex relationship between father and son. A simple question for a bedtime story asked by the son provokes an overreaction from the father. The poem then explores the father's anxious and worrisome mind .Thinking of what the future holds for his relationship with his son the father gets lost in his own world while his child merely awaits for his bedtime story. Another heavy influence to the story of Shingeki no Kyojin comes from the Ynglinga Saga from Snorri’s Edda. The main protagonist, Eren Jaeger (and others) can transform into titans, shown first during the battle at Trost. After being consumed by a Titan to save his friend, Eren himself transforms into a titan and goes on a violent killing spree, tearing apart any other Titan that comes across his path. This sort of mindless battle-frenzy is like that of the berserkers in the Ynglinga Saga, from Snorri’s Edda. According to the Saga, warriors “rushed forwards without armor, were as mad as dogs or wolves… and were strong as bears or wild bulls” (Ynglinga Saga).…

In the short story “The Shunamite”, the character Luisa was forced to marry her uncle in order to receive his inheritance. In the beginning of the story Luisa described how happy of a person she was. She felt totally free and liberated to do whatever she wanted to. She was young and beautiful with the whole world in front of her, as she continues to describe herself, “I stood in the very midst of the light, dressed in the morning, proud, feeding the flames with my blonde hair, alone.” In this passage the protagonist (Luisa) in my opinion felt proud to be a woman, but we learn in the next passage that she also uses the attributes of her looks to draw attention from men.…
