Shinedown's Song

Decent Essays
I chose The Crow and the butterfly by Shinedown. I feel like this song speaks to me in an emotional way, and i’m sure people can relate. This song is about how a mother lost her son and she’s trying to get over it, but it’s hard when you lost something so important to you and you don’t know how to live without that person in your life. But she tries to get over it by changing his room and moving stuff and trying to find a happy place. When you listen to the actual lyrics to the song you would hear “I never thought you’d slip away.” “I guess I was a little too late.” When I think about those lyrics I think in the sense that she didn’t spend enough time with him or in a sense that she could have saved him but she couldn’t. The tone of this song

Poor Jose gets cheated on by his girlfriend with a man she just me. While Jose was gone, the woman in the song was lonely and goes to a cafe. She meets the man in the song and says, “Come a little but closer, you're my kind of man / so big and so strong / come a little bit closer, I’m all alone / and the night is so long”. She doesn't seem to think about how Jose would feel about her loneliness being acted upon. She only thinks of her immediate gratification much like the female in the “A Woman Needs…

Für Elise by Beethoven is the song that expresses who I am. When I started playing piano, I got frustrated that most of my family had a natural talent while I didn't. My father talked to me and gave me one of the most important lessons of my life: "Practice makes perfection, if you want something, insist until you get it". After playing piano as a hobby, at age 17 I decided to take my skills to the next level by taking piano lessons at college and I challenged myself to first learn how to play Für Elise. It wasn't easy, but practice made perfection.…

I choose the songs “Walkin’ After Midnight” by Patsy Cline (1957), “Darkest Valley” by Group 1 Crew (2012), and “Who I Am Hates Who I’ve Been” by Relient K (2004). I choose these three pieces because they are all something that I listen to regularly and they demonstrate a variety of styles in music. Patsy Cline was an iconic female country singer that won awards at the Deejay Convention, won Billboard’s “Most Promising Country & Western Female Artist,” and Music Vendor’s “Greatest Achievement in Records” all just for “Walking After Midnight” (Jones, 1994, p. 159). “Walkin’ After Midnight” music was written by Alan Block and the lyrics were written by Don Hecht ("Walkin' After Midnight." Second Hand Songs - A Cover Songs Database.).…

He Mandu After listening to both versions of the song, I prefer to listen to the second version. The first version it seems out of balance in how everyone was singing. It seemed that the singers on the right side, specifically the one in the red, was doing the most singing. While the left singers to me did not feel as if they were singing as much.…

Jessica Risner Heather Ward English 1101-41 October 5, 2015 “Love You Forever” Literary Analysis One of my favorite stories to read to my daughter is “Love You Forever” by Robert Munsch. The story is about a mother who sneaks into her son’s room, once he is sleeping, and sings a song to him. She sings to him these words “I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always, as long as I’m living, my baby you’ll be (pg. 14).” My favorite part about this story is that once her son is a teenager, and even a grown adult, she still sneaks into his room and sings her song to him.…

Theme song I remember when my football coach showed me Don't Blink for the first time around 10-11 years old. At the time I was thinking it was a good song, but as the years start passing by the song started hitting me in personal ways. Life flashes right in front of you and it's like you don't even realize it until everything is gone. Life shouldn't be taken for granted, and should be fulfilled with everything you have ever wanted.…

For this weeks discussion post this week, I chose I Feel Like I'm Fixin' to Die Rag for my song. The song is by Country Joe and the Fish; the song is very different than most in 1965. The song protest the Vietnam War and pushed blame on the politicians and the Military Industrial Complex at the time. It really captures a different aspect of the American spirit that is not seen to often. I found it very interesting after researching a bit, I found that the artist had actually been discharged from the military after three years of service.…

The song I chose is “Surfin’ U.S.A.”, is characterized by the Beach Boys. I chose this song because of how laid back the tune sounds and makes me want to relax. It’s relaxing because the song reminds me of the beach and the sounds of the waves. In the song it talks about how they will be gone for the summer and to tell the teacher they have gone surfing. The summer always reminds me of the beach and all the surfers in the water.…

Black veil Brides tend to put a lot of meaning through their songs. Their songs Saviour, Never Give In, and Carolyn, I believe, are the top three with the most meaning flowing through them. “ You're not alone, we’ll face this storm and save today. You're not alone.” These lyrics from the song Carolyn show how much the band cares.…

This song talks about the speaker who is abused by her boyfriend but she stands by him because she loves him. This is similar to when we find out that Mayella was abused by her father but still loves him because well, it’s her father. They both show unhealthy relationships and how bad things can be at home. The mood in both of this song and the book is desperate. They are both desperate for love and will do anything to stay by their family/man.…
