Both Israeli and the Palestinians have been in conflict for many decades. Israel won its independence in 1948, causing Palestine to become an extinct country. Palestinians feel that it is their right to be independent and become its own country once again. Effort such as peace talks and terrorism have occurred throughout the conflict. Shimon Peres, former president of Israel has tried to make a compromise to bring Israel and the Palestinians at peace. Shimon Peres was born in Poland but he has served his presidency in Israel for seven years in 2007-2014.
