Shiloh rambled on, his voice slowly loosing vigor as he grew tired. He propped his chin up with his hands, and let out a quiet sigh. He got up for a moment, and poured himself a glass of soda, before sitting back down beside XNFE and ruffling her hair. He remained completely unaware of the fact his guest had heard half of their little chat. Vivace remained seated as she mused over her next move. Should she just leave while she still had the chance to go unnoticed or was what she had heard even true? She couldn't bring herself to believe in the implications of the other's spiel due to its absurdity, but at the same time its complexity and the amount of detail that went into it made it hard to deny the truth. Or perhaps he was just a lunatic.

Although the author of Speak, Laurie Halse Anderson, didn’t give readers a complete description of what Melinda’s bedroom looked like, I made some mental pictures of what I thought her bedroom and some of the decorations looked like. Melinda was described as a very creative girl who was very artistic. Her best grade on her report card was in art class, and it also seemed to be her favorite class.…

Bobbie Ann Mason’s short story “Shiloh” is one that was published in 1982. The story consists of an low class couple of Leeroy Moffitt and his wife Norma Jean, whose mother Mabel also has impact on the crumbling relationship of the two throughout the story. Much of the story is presented through the disabled Leeroy Moffitt’s perspective who is in anyway possible trying to sway Norma Jean’s love back in his direction; nonetheless, he’s a man with no job that aspires to build a home for his wife. Log cabins are a form of housing that is many decades old, so I wondered why Leeroy was so fixated on building this home when it’s obvious his wife wasn’t fond of it. After the couple and Mabel took the trip to Shiloh, where it’s important to note that…
