In the United States Dogs have become the most common household pet. With this interest comes a demand for more and unique dog breeds. As time has gone on more and more dogs have become available as pets. So a many people are asking themselves, what is the best dog for me? The answer varies from one home to another, but as of late the Shiba Inu breed has become a very popular choice for new pet owners.
The breed originates from Japan being used as a hunting dog. That eventually made its way to the United States, because of one of the most sought after dog traits, their loyalty. These dogs are extremely loyal to their owners and are usually preferred as guard dogs for a family. I have had the pleasure of owning one of these dogs and have noticed that they are very territorial, and have a big mouth. At any moment when the UPS driver would deliver a package my dog would consistently bark until they drove away. My dog did not only have issues with strangers though, she had issues with all animals at the very sight of any animal birds, cats, squirrels, other dogs, etc. She would attempt to force her way outside to attack the other animal. A major issue with them being territorial is that they like their own personal space and do not like their space intruded.
