First of all he wrote a book called The Dumbest Generation, If anything I believe that we are quickly becoming one of the smartest generations. Of course multitasking is still a big issue, but other than that we are more connected to each other and have more resources than ever before. Bauerlein makes a claim in the film that he wishes that this generation would prove everything in his book flat wrong; this to me just doesn’t make sense. Of course we cannot prove everything wrong because the way we learn and have evolved is different from the way he as been taught. If he would like for us to prove everything wrong then I think he should try and do everything that was taught before the way he was taught. For example, can he memorize all of the writings and stories that people needed to before print was available? No, he can’t because time has evolved and the way we teach changes, the resources we need changes, and the way we do things changes. So, for him to sit there and call our generation dumb and basically incompetent is absolutely ludicrous; obviously times have changed and the way kids learn has changed and I think that it is for the better. We can now search through databases and libraries with keywords and just a click of a button, which allows us to find things faster and easier so we have more time to do other
