In the article “No Need to Call”, Sherry Turkle tells us about the relationship that people have made with technology. She describes how communication has evolved and how it has negatively impacted the way we communicate. Turkle mainly discusses the way society has changed things, such as the meaning when making phone calls rather than texting. From another point of view, we have Jenna Wortham who in her article “I Had a Nice Time With You Tonight. On the App”, argues that technology has been nothing but a positive asset in her long distance relationship and how others could benefit as well. Everywhere you look, you see people in groups or even couples staring down at their devices, ignoring the world and everyone else that may be around them. According to Daily mail, of 143 women, 62 percent of them claimed that technology interfered with time spent with their partner and almost one-third of respondents said their boyfriend has looked at his smartphone while they were talking. One-quarter even said their partner has been known to compose texts during face-to-face conversations. Our minds seem to be controlled by the new innovations that are happening. Even when occupied by many things and people, we find ourselves constantly worried about whether our phone has enough battery. Emails, IM’s, and other forms of messages have taken over and replaced phone calls. According to text request, text messaging is the most used data service in the world and the most used form of communication for American adults under 50. Many people have learned to become intimidated by calls and prefer messaging because of the convenience they believe it has. One argument for believing this, presented in Sherry Turkle's article “No need to call” is that when texting, one does not need to react immediately like you would need to if you were having a conversation face to face or over the phone. When having a relationship with someone, this is an important aspect. People used to rely on face to face interaction to meet and date others.
