Whoever is a Sherlock Holmes fan, has at least heard of the modern TV series that started, and are about the life of the famous Londoner Detective. I’m talking about the BBC’s Sherlock and CBS’s Elementary.
Sherlock is a series started by BBC with its first episode in July 2010. There is this modern detective called Sherlock Holmes, he’s tall, handsome looking guy, who is an asocial sociopath, whose deducting skills are extraordinaire but his social skills are the least we can say lame. He is known as someone who can deduct the type of cigar the person smoke just from the ash that he finds on the ground, although he cannot connect normally with the people around him.

Well one of the main differences is that John Watson, Sherlock’s sidekick in the Elementary series is not a male but a female character, and that quite is a difference, because it changes their relationship too. At the Sherlock series John is the sidekick (as in the books), and helps Sherlock with his Deductions (of course as much as he can) and also with his adventures, but in the Elementary series Joan starts as being a sober companion, then advances as a pupil to Sherlock (to learn the art of a Detective) and then continues being a Detective Companion to Sherlock and helping him solve the crimes.
Another difference is the length of the series and the episodes. We have BBC’s Sherlock which has the length of an episode 90 minutes (a movie length episode), and then CBS’s Elementary which one episode is 40-45 minutes long. And then we have the number of episodes. Sherlock has 3 seasons with 3 episodes each. But Elementary has two seasons with 24 episodes
