The study conducted by Chen, Kyle, and McIntryre (2008) examined primary and secondary teacher’s participation in Sheltered Instruction and Family Involvement (SIFI), a professional development project. In SIFI, teachers learned effective strategies to communicate with ELLs’ parents. For example, when faced with language barriers teachers used communication alternatives such as translators, neighbors, an ELLs older sibling who is English proficient, and internet translators. All the teachers in the study agreed that parent involvement is important for a good school. (Chen, Kyle, and McIntrye, 2008). Moreover, the strong parent-teacher communication not only enhances ELLs’ academic success but also their social and emotional development
