Hilo, Hawai’i – The Hawai’i State University (HSU) has hired Keala Fonseca as the new head coach of women’s basketball team.
It has been three months after HSU’s former head coach Lilo Shimooka resigned her position without providing a validate reason for her resignation. After reviewing a total of 110 applications, Taiko Cruz, HSU’s athletic director and the chair of HSU Coach Search Committee, announced that the committee have made a final decision and Fonseca accepted the position as head coach of the team. “We feel exceptionally fortunate to find a person who is so highly qualified to lead our outstanding girls’ basketball team. We expect great things from Keala Fonseca, and we know she’ll deliver the goods.” Said Cruz.
