Sheila Boldyrev: My Personal Role Model

Improved Essays
Our private heroes are the people that have overstepped boundaries to help us on a personal level and alter our lives forever. Valentina Boldyrev is my mother, and also my personal role model. First of all, she is the mother of two children, my sister Alice and I, a loving wife to my father, Pavel and a daughter, sister and caring friend to others. My mom is not a person that progressed through the archetypal heroic journey, but she definitely possesses the qualities of one. She is charismatic, honest, and determined. Recently I watched the movie” Miss Evers Boys,” and I felt sad at that moment. In the movie, Nurse Evers played a main character in the movie. From 1932 through 1972, Miss Evers was part of the Macon County Hospital in Tuskegee, Alabama. The United States Government hid the medical experiment from the black patients to study the results of untreated syphilis. Miss Evers cooperated with the U.S Public Health Department to do this research.…

Typically, when one hears the word “hero,” the brain automatically pictures a character flying through the air saving the day with his super power. On the contrary, the two do not have to be related at all. Beowulf is viewed as a stereotypical hero- titanic, mighty, and powerful. However Victoria Soto simply earned her title of “hero” by putting children’s lives before hers. Although Beowulf and Victoria Soto presented bravery and courage like any hero, the impression they make and the preparation they put in are distinctive.…

She is only a text, email, or phone call away when I need her. I know that she’ll always listen, because she always has. Through my parents’ divorce, through a day where I could have just run away from home and not looked back, and then even through the less serious, sometimes trivial matters, she was there for me. I asked her what her favorite part of being a small group leader is, and she replied, “Connecting with you guys, and just hearing your stories, you know?
