Shea's First Day-Personal Narrative

Superior Essays
It was a hot summer day in August in Atlanta, Georgia. It was little Shea’s 6th birthday, and she was very excited. She hopped out of bed and ran out into the family room. Her mother greeted her in the hallway, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEETIE!” She ran over to her mom and gave her a big hug. Her mom had set out a present for her to open that morning before she went off to school. As she went back to her room to get ready for school, she thought about how this was gonna be the best birthday EVER. She had always wanted to be a big girl and now that she was 6 years old, she was allowed to do a few things without her mom. She had always wanted to walk to the bus stop by herself, ride her bike around the block by herself, and pick out her own outfits. …show more content…
It was almost 4:15 and Shea would be coming home soon! She ran to the front door and waited for the bus to pull up to the bus stop. She waited, and waited, and waited. Eventually, she began to get worried. There had been no sign of the school bus or Shea. Around 4:45, she decided to call Mrs. Scott to see if she knew where her daughter was. Mrs. Scott was very confused about the situation. She said Shea had gotten on the bus as usual, and she didn't know what happened after that. Her mother thanked her, and proceeded to call the principal. The principal didn't know about the situation either, so he turned the call over to the bus driver. The bus driver said he hadn't seen anything suspicious. He noticed that her mother was not at the bus stop as she usually was, but he knew Shea was allowed to go by herself since she was older. He also recalled that there was a man in a small black SUV on the side of the road, but he didn't see any relevance in it at the time. Shea’s mother thanked him for the information and called the police. She told them everything she knew and they sent a few officers out to try to find …show more content…
The officer told Shea that she may be asked about this experience sooner or later, and to be completely honest about everything that had happened. After the officer left, Shea’s mom asked her what had happened. She told her about how he knew her name so she thought they must've known each other, and her mom concluded that it was because her name was on her crown. No wonder! Shea told her mother that even though she was a big girl now, she still wanted them to walk to the bus stop together. Her mother agreed. They continued to celebrate her birthday as usual, even after this tragic experience. They ate the cake and she opened her last presents. In about 15 minutes, she had one present left. She had saved the best for last. Shea carefully opened her last gift, and was shocked at what it was - the same exact puzzle the man had gotten
