After 30 seconds of song identification, the user would then get a text message with the artist name and song title. Among Americans aged 13 years old and older who own a smartphone or tablet, over two-thirds of tablet users and about half of smartphone users said surfing the web was the number one activity they choose to do while watching their favourite programs. In addition, over 40% of tablet owners said shopping or looking up actors, plots, athletes were the top activities they did while watching TV. In terms of smartphone owners, 29% said they emailed or texted friends about a program. So if these tablet and smartphone users were using Shazam’s Resonate app to surf the web and online shop, this could possibly bring in a large portion of revenue previously untouched by Shazam.
Similarly, in Shazam Visual, instead of only exclusive content, when users scan the tagged images on the magazines, they should be directed to the brand website where they will be able to purchase items. However, Shazam Visual is another platform where users can engage with the brands and brands can get more recognition. Shazam can work closely with each partner to help them watermark an image to prime it for recognition. Many already do that with Shazam to tag television
