The Shawshank Redemption takes place in Shawshank prison from the year 1947 to 1966. It starts off with a guy named Andy Dufresne, an ex banker, being convicted of murdering his wife and the man she was having an affair with. He is sent to the Shawshank prison where he meets a guy Ellis Redding, known as "Red". Red, who is also in for murder, is the guy that the prisoners go to to get items. One day Andy comes up to him asking for a rock hammer so that he can make chess pieces for a set he wants to make. Red agrees and gets him the hammer. He took Tommy outside and had Captain Hatlen kill him. Things continued on for a while after, then Andy had had enough. While doing the books for the Warden he switched them out so that he would have all of the paperwork, then he climbed through a hole in the wall of his cell that he had made with the rock hammer and crawled out through 500 yards of sewage to his freedom. Before the Warden found out the next morning, Andy had already gone and collected all of the money from the banks and went to Mexico where he had always wanted to go. The police found out about the murder and corruption at the prison and had arrested Captain Hatlen but when they went to get the Warden he killed himself, not wanting to go to prison. He made it down there and they reunited on the shore of the Pacific Ocean where they were never …show more content…
I think the story was excellent, I think it did a nice job of blending the law aspect of the movie with the entertainment so as to make it more interesting. I think that the acting was terrific as well. Also I like how it not only shows what happens to the prisoners while they are in prison, but also how hard it can be for them to get back into the world after being in prison for so long. It 's just eye opening to see how much prison can actually change someone. I find parts of this movie hard to believe like how none of the guards ever thought to look behind his poster where the tunnel he was digging was. Also I didn 't find the part where they said that they couldn 't find the gun to prove that he didn 't shoot him so that made him guilty but they need to prove him innocent so they need the gun to match the bullets to prove guilt because you are innocent until proven guilty. Other than that everything else I feel is believable such as the fact that Andy was wrongfully convicted of the murder because in class we have learned that this is a common thing. Also the corruption seems realistic because it has happened before in other

After committing this horrible act Andy showed no remorse, instead acting nonchalant and uncaring with their deaths, simply stating, “I don’t care what you do with them (Capote, 1965, p. 314).” Disregarding his own family's dead bodies as if they were trash, thinking that he had the right to kill his mother that's just how Andy’s brain worked.
