The Macro Environment

Shaw Communications doesn’t function among a vacuity of an external business environment. As a telecommunications company, it must take action and respond with what occurs beyond its walls. The factors and forces that take place outside Shaw Communication’s control can have a significant impact on its core competencies, operations, and business strategy. These external elements are what make up the macro environment. There are 6 elements that can impact Shaw Communications in either a positive or negative way which are the following. (Riley, 2015).

These 6 primary elements that impact most business and companies like Shaw. 1. Political Factors: This consists of laws, government agencies and pressure groups that influence and try to restrain and restrict businesses and companies. (Riley, 2015). Many companies will try to have a keen eye on the development of new legislature, political changes such as tax and fiscal policies, political climate and tariffs that can affect their operations and its bottom line substantially.
