More specifically, The Farmer ends up in the hospital – with memory loss, which leaves it up Shaun, Bitzer, and the rest of the flock to track him down. However, along the way, they catch the attention of a ruthless Animal Control agent, Trumper (Omid Djalili) – and must out maneuver him if they wish to retrieve The Farmer and return to their taken-for-granted lifestyle.
Stemming from the popular Wallace and Gromit short, A Close Shave, Shaun the Sheep is a well-constructed, ambitious stop-motion animated production. Initially, I’m guessing it’s not uncommon to judge such a production that less than stellar, visually, at least when compared to something from Disney or DreamWorks. But, don’t shortchange this under-utilized means of animation creation.
Admittedly, the animation doesn’t pop out at you, like Frozen or Minions, though it does draw you in – rather hastily, I might add, with a group of loveable protagonists that are kind at heart, and loyal to no end. Shaun, along with Bitzer, and The Farmer, collectively round out a cast that is delightful as The Simpsons, and as vibrant as any family residing within the confines of Walt Disney
