    Chris Gardener Analysis

I think that hard working is a characteristic of Chris Gardener because after everything he went through with his wife leaving for New York and him not being able to pay his rent and having to take care, feed and give Christopher shelter he had to keep going he had to make sure he got to places on time pick up Christopher and bring him to the homeless shelter by 5:00. Another Characteristic of Chris Gardner is persistent, because no matter how many bad things came along and try to bring him down like the IRS taking out $600 from his account for not paying taxes he kept on going and finding ways to get money he never let anything bring him down he had to keep going because he had to stay strong for Christopher he couldnt tell Christopher that he was not doing good he couldnt tell him that they were broke and would have to be sleeping on subways and bathroomsa lot more.…

In chapter 11 page 115, Billie mentions that Chris was really good at making money. This was ironic because making money was the worst thing he hated even though he was really good at it. This line is profound to me because it shows me that being good at something and liking something have no connection, whatsoever. For example, Christ had a real talent for making money but he never really applied the skill he made in the real world because he hated it so much. This creates a paradox because being a “natural-born capitalist” meant that he was naturally born rich making him love money, but in the case of McCandless, he hated money.…

The Rabbits Written by John Marsden and illustrated by Shaun Tan, 'The Rabbits' is an allegorical tale of colonisation. First published in 2000 by Lothian Books, the book parallels the real life happenings of the British invasion and colonisation of Australia and the effects on the Indigenous Australians. Tan's illustrations open his audience's eyes with his peculiar, bold, semi-abstract style that conveys the anxiety and bewilderment of the possums as they bear witness to the mass destruction that follows along with the rabbits. Already in the beginning, the text from Opening One "The rabbits came many grandparents ago.…

There were many things that led Chris McCandless into the wild. In my perspective, what led McCandless into the wilderness was his family problems. More imparticular, his father. The downfalls of their relationship cause many other hardships to Chris’s life. Krakauer says “Chris's smoldering anger, it turns out, was fueled by a discovery he’d made two summers earlier, during his cross-country wanderings.…

    Response To Kristof

Based on the reading “Summarizing and Responding to Academic Writing”, summarizing and responding a text helps readers to understand the text and the real idea that author wants them to capture. When summarizing a text, readers practice their ability to write everything they’ve read in their own words, bring together all the essential points that were mentioned in the text, and think about the ideas that were presented in the text. When responding a text, writers should first understand the text, then take a stand on whether they agree or disagree with the text’s argument, and discuss their opinions while analyzing the text. Through reading “Our Blind Spot about Guns” by Nicholas Kristof and “Guns and Cars Are Different” by Jacob MacLeod, MacLeod’s response to Kristof makes more sense to me because…

Christopher McCandless did not make the right choice in not letting his family know he was alive and well. Nothing hurts more than the loss of a loved one, the passing of Chris devastated his family. Chris left with the intention of not wanting to be found, Chris caused stress on his family because they had no idea if he was alive. The least that Chris could have done to communicate with his family would be to send them a postcard once in a while to let his family know he was still living. I believe Chris made the wrong choice in not telling his family, it caused his family emotional pain.…

"So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism." (76) These unhappy circumstances are what Chris McCandless in Into the Wild was trying to escape when he left on his journey. Some people could argue that Chris was unsuccessful in his adventures because he didn 't survive, however I disagree. I believe that Chris McCandless was extremely successful, but this might be because my definition of success may differ from others.…
