Is it possible for two teenagers to travel the world, evade killers, and find their father that's nowhere to be found? In this book anything is possible. The title of the book is Sharp shot. The author of this novel is Jack Higgins. I loved this book because it has tons of action, an intense thrill, and has a suspense. First of all, this novel has multiple action scenes throughout. Bullets start flying on page 11. “There was a rattle of machine-gun fire from somewhere outside-closer than before.” For example, Rich and Jade get bullets heaved at them by malicious mystery men in the first event of the book. Gunfire hit the door of their home within the first fifteen pages. These two kids evaded multiple criminals in this novel such as CIA agents gone bad to washed up criminals from their father’s past. …show more content…
Before Jade was rescued at the amusement park by a man who she thought was her father's friend. Jade later realized that the man who rescued her was an enemy of her father. She had been taken hostage and she didn't even realize it. As soon as Jade tried to escape, she started feeling woozy and couldn't stand up. “She was suddenly feeling light-headed and woozy. She overheard McCain talking with Darrow, and McCain said, “I'll pick the girl up” (82). Jade later configured that she had been drugged by the hotels bartender. Jade was recaptured by insane Darrow and the untrustable McCain. Rich and Jade did the impossible in this book. This book is different from the others I've read because it has much more action than adult novels, but the characters are teenagers. They evaded the killers, traveled halfway across the world, and even reunited with their long lost father. I read Sharp Shot because I'm a teenager. I could relate to some of the things Rich and Jade did throughout. I loved it because had tons of action, a constant adventure, and nonstop

This led me to think that this book should be called The First Shot due to Danny firing the one shot that set the story in motion. This story portrayed its setting very well by providing examples of futuristic elements as well as real life locations such as Boise, Idaho. This book also included countless examples of surprises, both big and small, including my surprise when I saw what all Daniel’s one shot caused. Since this story was set in a futuristic time period, there were many items that would be very useful in modern life especially the characters comms. The social issue in the story and the social issue we have today were strikingly similar in this…

Sonia Rodriguez rough childhood was hard to read, mainly because I saw the dysfunctions that created Lady Q and how it motivated her to act rebelliously. I enjoyed that this book covered one person; it made the story more personal while connecting it back to the larger Macro issue of gang violence. Her personal story dealt with the motivation that many people that come from a dysfunctional home have to join a gang. In the book you felt sympathy for her desperation, knowing that without her gang she felt she had nowhere else to go. This in part makes the last couple of pages so chilling to me.…

In the book This Is Where It Ends Marieke Nijkamp, writes about the terrifying fifty four minute Opportunity High School experiences an active shooter situation. This book was published by Sourcebooks Fire in Naperville, Illinois on January 5th 2016. This book is intense, face paced and easy to read, but I would not select this book to be offered to seniors in our classroom library due to the sensitive subjects covered and the reading level it offers. This Is Where It Ends is written in 4 different perspectives and gives a minute by minute play of the horrifying shooting happening inside the Opportunity High School auditorium. One of the 4 perspectives is told by Autumn, she is the sister of the shooter.…

The climax of the book is when the redcoats arrive on the common. This is a point of extreme suspense. The suspense is broken when the first shot is fired and Moses Cooper “crumpled to the ground like an empty sack…” (pg. 100, paragraph 5). The “Shot Heard Round the World” is the very beginning of the Revolutionary War and is the one of the most pivotal moments in history.…
