Unfortunately, I have had only one session since the last research diary (my client went on vacation). Most of this diary will contain my thoughts moving forward with my research. My research question is how does manipulation of a writing genre impact the level of participation and sense of self in a shared writing activity for a client with dementia? Significant ideas with the relationships, that nurses use every day, include sharing information or education, working together in partnerships, authority (who is in charge?), and being able to be accountable independently or in a group. They also utilize the diversity in the patient population and professional people that we work with. If and when we have to do written observations on the children, when we feel that the child might need some specialized help, it would mean more if I could articulate what needs to be done in written form. To be able to have better written communication would be a great way for parents to understand that: 1) I care about their child, 2) I want to help them and their child, 3) that I know the steps that need to be taken, and 4) I can write these things with tact. I am also starting to think about changing my career. I am thinking about maybe becoming a child life specialist, still in the beginning research phase. I know that I would have to do a lot more writing/reports in that field than the one I am in…

My first though on this assignment was “ Who writes anymore? With all of the technology we have no one writes anymore,” I was wrong. I frequently find myself writing at work, at Intermountain Medical Center as a Patient Care Tech and as a Health Unit Coordinator. Often I am writing for myself, writing to my coworkers, other departments in the hospital and writing for as well as to my boss. Recently I noticed the longer I have been working at this job the more comfortable I am writing to my colleagues and my boss.…

Here, the answer to the question of whether an artist is an employee depends on the context in which the work is being done. The strength of this analysis is that the parties have the ability to prevent a problem with clear and direct definitions of the relationships prior to commencing work. i. Throughout the past few weeks of Studies in English Education, the main aspect that has been addressed is the term ‘multiliteracies.’ From completing this portfolio and attending each of the workshops, I have learned that to become a text producer I need to be involved with the variety of functions in language and literacy. Hill (2012) states that ‘to be multiliterate means to be literate in print-based and new communication technologies’ (p. 361). Such technologies include ‘electronic literacies, technoliteracies, digital literacies, visual literacies and print-based literacies’ (Hill 2012, p. 361).…
