The parents can be approached in various ways, but it must be on their terms. Where they are, already, supporting their children, that is where the relationships must be forged. At the sporting events, at the drop-off and pick-up circle, at the recitals and shows the students put on. We all must work together to help the students find success in the classrooms. When parents see that teachers and staff are there working for their children and with their children, supporting and encouraging them to learn and grow, they usually want to know what they can do to help. Everyone wants the best for their students.

The esprit de’cour needs reviving and updating. Everyone should be using current standards. What is “the industry” (for each separate department) using today? If we are truly working to allow our students the opportunities to succeed in college and in the workplace, what is actually being used there? There must be both involvement and learning opportunities for the students and the teachers. Everyone should be reminded of what students are involved in and attending. Every chartered club holds conferences or get-togethers of some sort. If students are excited to go on trips to be involved with clubs and organizations and teachers are attending workshops to hear about the most recent goings-on in their field, a sense of involvement, inclusion, and pride is established.
