Health care is facing the broader set of responsibilities to the community and the environment as compared to a few decades ago. Short-term economic gains are not the motive, which the health care leaders should aim at. Patient-centered care has taken center stage and creating value-based care is taking precedence over cost-effective care. For the health care organizations to be sustainable, it is imperative for health care leaders to look into the foreseeable future and create socially accountable organizations. For communicating the entrepreneurial and forward thinking vision to the rest of the employees of the organization, the mission statement has to reflect that vision.
