I chose Shape magazine to analyze this semester. This magazine is a women’s magazine that gives tips and advice on how to live healthier, get in shape, and have a happy life. Shape is by the Meredith Corporation. This company makes many different magazines such as Parents, Family fun, Fit Pregnancy, Weddings, Better Homes and Gardens, and Allrecipes. These magazines are lifestyle magazines. I chose Shape magazine because I am interested in fitness and bettering myself.

Shape is inspiring people to be happy with their results and take pride in how they look. Six Pillars of Self-Esteem explains pride very well. “Authentic pride has nothing in common with bragging, boasting, or arrogance. It comes from an opposite root. Not emptiness but satisfaction is its wellspring. It is not out to ‘prove’ but to enjoy” (Branden 40, 41). Self-efficacy is needed to change your opinion of yourself and build confidence. Knowing you can be successful is a huge part in starting a journey to achieve successfulness. Shape magazine is all about transforming your body to look fit and confident. Their cover lines give all different ideas on how to better yourself which helps people to gain the self-efficacy needed to begin bettering
