Shakespeare attempts to define it in his sonnet “Let me Not to the Marriage of True Minds.” In the sonnet, the speaker, who I assume is Shakespeare himself, says that love is perfect and unchanging even if one of the people in love finds change in their significant other. Later on, he says that love is unbreakable, comparing it to a ship in a storm that does not sink. Towards the end, the speaker says how love is unaffected by time itself, that love is undying and does not fade. As sappy as this may sound, I really do agree with his definition of love. My relationship with my girlfriend is something I cherish because I can tell that the love is real. Therefore, according to the speaker of the sonnet, our love is unchanging, unbreakable, and would attest the test of time and live on forever. We have changed dramatically over the years that we have been together, however we are still together and going strong. We have had many obstacles during the beginning of our relationship. I was new to being in a relationship, so I did many things that I later regret doing. In addition to that, we were in a long distance relationship at the time so that did not make the situation any easier. However, we managed to stay strong and happily made it out of that era of our relationship. Our love was unbreakable. As I said in the previous paragraph, I want her beauty and her love to live on until the end of time
