Aristotle’s recorded thoughts, “A man doesn’t become a hero until he can see the root of his own downfall.” Tragic hero, something almost most of us know, but some don’t. A tragic hero is someone expected to be a hero or already is one and/or of noble birth. But suddenly they destroy their reputation & oftenly their lives fall apart. What you can hope for is that it doesn’t take you to a point of insanity which usually can lead to death. In William Shakespeare’s brilliant & violent play, Macbeth was a tragic hero. In the film directed by Christopher Nolan, The Dark Knight Harvey Dent was a tragic hero.
Macbeth and Harvey Dent expected very positive influential things to happen to them but unfortunately their desires got the best of them.

But surprisingly for him, he was not brought any more good news but instead King Duncan made Banquo Prince of Cumberland which basically means he has power over almost everyone and his future generations will be next in line as well. Macbeth was quite jealous of this, in fact he said, “The Prince of Cumberland! That is a step on which I must fall down or else o’erleap, For in my way it lies. To clarify why she seems so crazy, Lady Macbeth’s reason for persuading him to do so was only because she realized if he was king she would feel much more important and she wanted the best for herself, she was being selfish and dark and deep desires.” (Act 1, Scene 4, lines 35-38) In this scene, Macbeth’s jealousy is beginning to control him just a bit, but at the moment he is still stable, in a sense. Macbeth really believed he was going to control Scotland because of the three witches’ telling of their prophecy, he gained too much confidence. Harvey was doing good and intending to keep doing so, in the process he was gaining compliments and people expected great things from him towards Gotham city, Harvey gained too much confidence. In the end, both Macbeth and Harvey had tragic endings to their own lives from the poor decisions they made, excessive confidence, and just a little bit encouragement to make the poor decisions that led them to their deaths.
