Director Mark Brozel attempts to provide an experience which is both true to the original Shakespearean world and engaging for 21st century audiences, but the result is nothing but disturbing and confusing. Whilst Joe Macbeth’s (James McAvoy) focus of revenge rather than ambition leads to an atrocious adaption, putting it simply; its 90 minutes of your time you'll never get back.
The BBC adaption of Macbeth is designed to be beautifully crafted, a little bit quirky and littered with symbolism. However, any Shakespeare enthusiast can see that the film is disgustingly flawed and fails to deliver the Macbeth story. No matter how much symbolism. Although, give it is due, the film is cleverly

What a mistake. Since the development of Joe leads more and more to a man seeking revenge not vaulting ambition. With the arrival of the ‘witches’: garbage men which clearly leaves to the lack of spirituality which was represented in the play. Seriously did screenwriter Peter Moffat read the play? So with the arrival of the garbage men and the prophecies where Joe is told he will own the restaurant this leads to the idea to kill Duncan. Which is totally unrealistic for a modern day audience.
However, Ella Macbeth cannot be forgotten for she did bring some light to the film. Initial camera angles of Ella highlight her seductive personality through close ups on her features. Also through the vibrant colours she often wears ads light to the dull kitchen and dark rooms. Ella is initially portrayed as bewitching but eventually she is just psychotic. Similar to the Lady Macbeth of the play. However, the emphasis on her lost child is clearly a blotched job as too many conclusions are drawn from the line “I have given suck and know/ How tender ‘tis to love the babe that milks me” (I, vii,

Between films and books, it is often seen how different the films tend to be in comparison with the real book story. In the play Macbeth, written by Shakespeare, and the 2015 movie of Macbeth, directed by Justin Kurzel, there are major differences seen. Although the film and the play share many similarities, the changes in the plot that occur during the movie change the flow and results of the situations occurring within the play. In the movie, Justin Kurzel takes away the psychological power Lady Macbeth has over different events, gives a different view of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, and the plot twist caused by Malcolm’s actions. Macbeth the film and Macbeth the play, show how a movie can differ from the actual message and mood the original author is in reality giving.…

Macbeth, the play written by William Shakespeare in 1606 examines the pitiful downfall of the fictional Scottish thane and latter, king, Macbeth through his murder of the king Duncan, his malevolent change in character and the tyranny he begins to spread against Scotland, due to his developing ‘greed and evil ambition. Shakespeare provides an alternative view of Elizabethan Tragedy through his writing of Macbeth by depicting the true core tragedy of the play, as Macbeth’s decline from greatness and enforcing this point to create tragedy rather than use typical Senecan-style archetypes. “Macbeth” is a Historically well known and famous work by William Shakespeare. It was written in time much different than today when life was completely different and seemingly had no comparisons to today’s time. However, I believe that Macbeth can be related closer to today’s time than people might realize. Lady Macbeth (Macbeth’s wife) in the play seems to replicate a psychopathic nutcase that in no way resembles anyway in modern society. However, She in many ways resembles a modern day college football coach and when you discuss college football coaches you have to the talk about the most successful college football coach of all time (in terms of wins and National Championships) Nick Saban.…
