Shakespeare: Fact or Fiction?

“The course of true love never did run smooth.” Wrote William Shakespeare, or did he? For centuries, Shakespeare has astounded audiences with his brilliant words and elegant phrasing. You will rarely meet someone who has not heard the names Romeo and Juliet, or hasn’t said the words “To be or not to be”. But was it truly him who wrote the prominent characters and phrases we all know so well? The proof of authorship or even existence is scarce, due to undocumentation during the Renaissance. True or false? Fact or fiction? If Shakespeare didn 't write the plays, from who and how did he get these immortal words? If he never existed then why would the author create a new character instead of taking credit for these marvelous works. The mystery of a man we all never met, yet know so well is soon to be uncovered.
“What’s in a name? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” But did this playwright even have a name? We can all agree that despite the theories of how this poetry came to be, they shaped the world of writing and theatre. But did the name to these works ever exist? Was the name that rings in our ears a pseudonym for another writer? The Ted Ed video by Natalya St. Clair and Aaron Williams, tells us there were multiple people and reasons, that could have lead someone to create this alias.
