When you talk about proportions we refer to the size relationship between and an object. one of the hardest things that most artists have to face is drawing in proportions when you have to have complete accuracy. It is vitally important in drawings whether your dealing with portraits, landscapes or even realistic drawings it trains the eye to see things as it is. In the process of setting up my blind contouring drawing I realized that it is more complex to focus on the object and have that image in your head without looking at the paper you cannot really tell whether you drawing is good or bad. I think that it is more about observation that helps you when you are a beginner. My first thought on my portrait was that it was not exactly resembling my model …show more content…
I like the symmetry of my models face I also like the light reflections and how I captured it by shading .

Conclusion 6. In realistic drawings it is extremely important that the base drawing captures the correct symmetry and proportions of the character, if this is not correctly done no amount of shading will make the character look the same as the real life person. Understanding the reflective light helps create dimensions to the portrait in order for it look realistic.
7. Composition skills, proportion drawing, shading skills.
8. No, if I used a grid method in my drawing I would have achieved better results with the facial symmetry. If I had analyzed more carefully with how the light reflections played against the portrait I would have been able to create more depth and texture in my drawing.
9. I think the most challenging part of this exercise was to capture the character in the most life like way. I enjoyed I learnt new skills along the way.

While at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, I entered the Egyptian wing which is a great place to be if you want to learn more about Egyptian art and the history. The subject of the art work is that for the ancient Egyptians, the ideal king was a young man in the prime of life. The physical reality was of less importance, so an old man, a baby, or even a woman who held the titles of pharaoh could be represented in this ideal form, as in this representation of the female pharaoh Hatshepsut. Although many of Hatshepsut's statues depict her as the ideal king, the inscriptions always allude to her feminine gender, sometimes by using both masculine and feminine grammatical forms, sometimes by including her personal name, Hatshepsut, which means "foremost of noble women." This statue was one of a pair that stood on either side of a granite doorway on the upper terrace of Hatshepsut's temple at Deir el-Bahri.…

Igor Babailov, a Russian born American artist once said, “Artists with the lack of proper education and experience of working from life will copy whatever is visible on the photograph, without knowing what's underneath. As a result, instead of creating the in-depth and full of character portrait, they draw a mask with no soul.” Without question Leonardo Da Vinci captured souls. His 15th Century contributions remain supreme whether they be in art, science, mathematics, engineering, writing or music. Such was Leonardo’s ability he enjoyed recognition and support as he created artworks such as the Mona Lisa and the less famous, Ginevra de benci.…

After Hurricane Katrina, when my family had to move to Houston, Texas for two years, my artistic journey began. I drew many pictures in my childhood, but this is where I started to take it more seriously. Moving to Texas, the “Lone Star State”, was quite an experience for me. It was sad for us to have to leave New Orleans, after withstanding the hurricane by settling in at the Superdome; it was a life changing experience. On the other hand, as my artistic life was commencing, my passion for sports was also becoming a part of me.…

I repeated each of the cuts that I made multiple times in order to have the necessary effect that I wanted.
