Ever wonder what goes on in the mind of a cop? Good thoughts? Bad thoughts? Regular cop turned good? Good cop turned bad? In Jennifer Lopez's new television series, she'll tell you how and what exactly goes on in the mind of a morally conflicted cop.

The American Idol judge, MTV music artist and Selena actress is putting her drama shoes on again after her work in Out of Sight.

Lopez is starring in a new television series called Shades of Blue. She plays Harlee Santos. Santos is a detective and a single mom. The series is set in Brooklyn and Santos goes undercover as an FBI informant to protect her only daughter. Talk about motherly instinct. But that doesn't sit well with the station's Lt. Matt Wozniak (played by Ray Liotta). He's determined to track and hunt down (and maybe shoot down) the person responsible for leaking information to crooks - and it might not even matter if it's in his own team, in a report by EW.

Portraying black women as Jezebel’s by nature is a long -lasting stereotype. The jezebel stereotype is one that has been used to put down African American women since the beginning of slavery. Throughout history the white women were seen as pure, hardworking and respectable, while black women were always seen as promiscuous, seductive and tempting men. Maria Miller Stewart who was a servant, teacher, abolitionist and women's rights activist shows through her literary work "Religion and the Pure Principles of Molarity, the Sure Foundation on which we Must Build." that black women show the same qualities as any other race of women and that they don't deserve the title of Jezebel. Also there will be images of how African American women…

Some films give away their ending based on the very genre they fall into; the couple puts aside their differences for love in the romantic comedy and the hero wins at the end of an action movie. There are those that play upon these tropes to purposefully subvert the reader’s expectations of course, but the more interesting cases lie in those films that aren’t attempting to subvert the genre, yet somehow manage to subtly and unintentionally undermine themselves through conflicting messages over the course of the film. King Vidor’s 1937 maternal melodrama Stella Dallas is the perfect example of a film whose ending message is preceded by so many contradicting elements, that its intended conclusion to the audience is not resolutely “earned” but…

In the article, “No one could see the color blue until modern times,” Loria writes how blue was not used to describe objects until more modern times. The author traced the use of each color in a language and culture and saw a pattern of the emergence of the use of each color. Black and white were the first colors to appear, and blue was the last to appear. The sky and ocean were not described as blue and used other colors and words to describe the color. I believe just because we did not used the word “blue” to describe things does not mean we did not see the color or did not think.…

As stated by Steve Herbert, “police are viewed as a distinct subgroup with a particular ethos that strongly influences their daily practices.” The subculture leads them to believe that they cannot appear weak no matter the circumstance and that they should essentially ignore their own humanity (Malmin). The subculture of police is also filled to the brim with close-mindedness, biases, prejudice, and suspicion (McCartney and Parent). Still, in spite of all of those negative aspects, there are some positive qualities of police subculture that somewhat assist in counterbalancing the more unfavorable aspects. People in law enforcement share respectable principles like teamwork, supportiveness, perseverance, loyalty as well as quite a few more.…
