My topic is to reduce the negative impacts of divorce on children, through sharing their divorced-related feelings, facilitating understanding, and clarifying misconceptions. My target population is children whose parents are divorced, and they are in 4th through 6th grade. In addition, they are in low socio-economic status families. They need to learn coping skills, discuss their feelings about divorce, and know how to regulate their emotions. This is because divorce has some negative effects on the emotional and physical aspects of my target population. In terms of emotions, parents' divorce can make children easily produce strong negative emotions (Emery, 1999). On the physical level, parents' divorce can lead to poor physical fitness and proneness to illnesses such as asthma, headaches and speech disorders (Rea, 2007).

When the husband and wife have different income and consumption levels, they are likely to have differences (Moore, n.d.). Mutual trust in marriage is important. Lack of trust can lead to derailment and quarrels. In addition, effective communication is an important part of maintaining a marital relationship (Moore, n.d.). The lack of communication between husband and wife will lead to self-centered mentality becomes more and more obvious (Moore, n.d.). And they will only consider their own needs, no longer for the sake of each other (Moore, n.d.).
